Breakfast

June 21, 2013  Friday part 1

We almost forgot to take pictures of our breakfast buffet before the staff cleared it away this morning.  Note that this hotel is in the Moslem part of town, so the meals aren't kosher.  This is the standard daily breakfast buffet  at the hotel.  Our breakfasts at the dig site include many of these items.

The scrambled eggs and mini sausages are gone.  But there are hard-boiled eggs, sautéed mushrooms and onions with roasted tomatoes, and assorted little pastries.  They will make omelets upon request.

There are various kinds of bread to toast, plus butter and a selection of jam and jelly.

Breakfast here includes olives, halva, tomatoes, and cucumbers, which can be seasoned with oil, vinegar, herbs, and spices.  There's delicious fresh pink grapefruit (rind removed, sliced) and several kinds of canned fruit.

Orange and grapefruit juices are delicious.  Coffee and tea are available, but no hot cocoa.  Too bad!

They serve American-style cold cereal and granola with half-and-half instead of milk.

The staff is trying to take away the sliced cheese, cold cuts, Greek-style yogurt, cottage cheese, and fresh cheese.  The fresh cheese is cut into 2" x 2" slices and I really like it.  It's a little bit salty.

  1. Yummy. I'm guessing you work off a lot of calories on the dig, so . . .
